Arrival in Reykjavik according to your own itinerary. Please note that airport transfer is not included but can be booked as an additional service. A nice way to start your holiday in Iceland is with a bath in the famous Blue Lagoon which can be included on the way from the airport to your hotel. Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland, is located 45 minutes from the airport. The Icelandic population consists of only 320.000 people and almost 60% of them live in the greater Reykjavik area. Even though Reykjavik is not a big city compared to other capitals of the world, it has everything a cosmopolitan city should offer; great dining, unique boutiques, shops, museums, theaters and a vibrant nightlife. Accommodation at Radisson Blu Saga Hotel (or similar).

  • Breakfast at the hotel.
  • Full day super jeep tour including
    • Simple caving in an ancient lava tube
    • 4x4 adventure
    • Skogarfoss waterfalls
  • Dinner and accommodation at Hrifunes Guesthouse.
  • Chance to see Northern Lights (weather dependent).

Breakfast at the hotel. Meet the group and your driver-guide who will brief you on today's trip. For the coming three days, you will travel by super jeep. A super jeep is originally a standard truck/SUV or van that is modified according to strict regulations in Iceland. It is basically an especially equipped 4x4 vehicle with very large tires that is designed appositely to face Icelandic demanding terrains and unpredictable weather both in winter and summer.
You start by driving through Reykjavík, and once you leave the city, it won’t take long to reach a remote area. The first stop is to try some simple caving in an ancient lava tube. These are created by volcanic eruptions and give a rare glimpse of how a volcano looks from the inside. From there, you will drive along the South Shore using back roads and trails and enjoying the views of rugged coast and isolated farms. Along the way you will stop to view some of the beautiful waterfalls that decorate the South Shore such as the mighty Skogarfoss waterfall. If the conditions are just right, you might also visit a hidden waterfall, a local gem accessible only to smaller groups. Back aboard your 4x4 jeeps you will drive along the south coast’s famous black sand beaches. You will spend the evening at the Hrifunes Guesthouse, a cozy home in the countryside, far away from any light pollution, giving you a good chance of glimpsing the elusive Northern Lights.

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Full day super jeep excursion including
    • Eldhran lava field
    • glacier hike on Svinafellsjokull in the Skaftafell National Park
    • visit to the Jokulsarlon glacial lagoon
  • Dinner and accommodation at Hrifunes Guesthouse
  • Chance to see Northern Lights (weather dependent)

After a hearty, home-made breakfast, you start the day by driving along the mountain road that crosses Eldhraun, a huge lava field from an eruption in the 18th century. You will pass the huge cliffs at Lomagnupur and incredible basalt columns, and enjoy some of the hidden gems the area has to offer. Continue to the Skaftafell area of Vatnajökull National Park. The entire national park covers about 14% of Iceland, making it one of the largest parks in Europe. Here you will put on crampons and take an ice pick for a walk on Svinafellsjokull glacier. During the hike you will see amazing shapes in the ice and learn how glaciers are formed. You will continue to the famous Jokulsarlon Glacial Lagoon with its colourful icebergs and seals, and the picturesque Diamond Beach close by. If weather permits and conditions on ice are safe, you will visit a natural ice cave on the South side of Vatnajökull glaciers. These ice caves appear and disappear according to the movements of the glacier. Some are very stable to visit, others are more difficult to reach and are more unstable. Some are quite unique while others look ordinary at first but become extraordinary in the right light and conditions. Expert glacier guides in the area will assess the conditions and see if there is any suitable ice cave to visit while you are in the region. After an exciting day of ice, iceberg and volcanic lava, you will return to your hotel. Dinner and accommodation at Hrifunes Guesthouse. After dinner, you have another chance to see Northern Lights.

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Full day super jeep excursion on the South Coast including:
    • Passing through regions with views of volcanic mountains Eyjafjallajökull and Mt. Hekla
    • Picnic lunch
    • Bathing in the Secret Lagoon, a naturally warm lake
    • Stops at Gullfoss, Geysir and Thingvellir (Golden Circle)
    • Tasting of Icelandic specialities
  • Accommodation at Radisson Blu Saga Hotel (or similar).

Breakfast at the guesthouse. Board your super jeep again for an adventure. Make your way towards the Golden Circle, passing through regions with views of volcanic mountains such as the famous Eyjafjallajökull and Mt. Hekla, Iceland's most frequently erupting volcano. We recommend a bath in the naturally warm lake of the Secret Lagoon, a peaceful hot-spring fed lake. Created by local residents using the natural landscape and materials in 1891, it is Iceland's oldest geothermal swimming pool. The water has natural minerals that soothe your skin. Surrounding the pool are yiny bubbling mud pots and a little geyser that erupts regularly. Watching these as you soak in the Secret Lagoon is a special exerience. You will end the day by visiting the three pearls of Iceland’s Golden Circle tour: the big waterfall Gullfoss, the spouting hot spring Geysir and the national park and UNESCO site Thingvellir, site of Iceland’s first parliament and a place where two tectonic plates are slowly but steadily separating. For your farewell gathering, you are invited to taste the local schnapps, brennivin, and a bit of fermented shark meat to go with it.
Return to Reykjavik where the evening is at your leisure. Accommodation at Radisson Blu Saga Hotel (or similar).
