Shops are usually open Mondays-Fridays from 9am-6pm and Saturdays 9am-4pm. Shopping malls normally have longer opening hours. Please note that most stores will be closed on Sundays. Shops and banks will also be closed on the public holidays.
The Nordic countries have some common public holidays like Christmas, Easter and New Year’s. Over these holidays, shops, banks and museums will normally be closed. Also many restaurants might be closed or have reduced opening hours. Public transport will usually operate on the Sunday schedule. Restaurants, museums and activities for our winter tours are usually open over Christmas with the exception of the afternoon of December 24 and the whole day of December 25.
Below you will find a list of the public holidays in the different countries. On the National or Constitution Days as well as Midsummer Day, all establishments are usually closed as well. On other holidays, often the Sunday opening hours apply. In Sweden, usually the afternoon before a public holiday is already free; in Russia, bank holidays close to weekends often include an extra free "bridge" day.
The tourist information centres will have more detailed information about exact opening hours and dates of closure. Also the staff at your hotel reception usually knows. If you are interested in a particular museum or restaurant, you might find information on their website.
