The frozen waterfalls of the Korouoma National Park

Korouma is a beautifully rugged destination in Southern Finnish Lapland, less than a couple of hours from Rovaniemi. This long crack of bedrock, which is hundreds of millions of years old, hosts some spectacular waterfalls which freeze over the winter months offering a magical experience to those who visit.

Once you meet the guide in the morning you will head to Korouoma Gorge in Posio, where the mightiest ice falls in Finland are located – some up to 60 meters tall! This moderately easy hiking tour is intended for an adventurous mind. You do not need any previous experience or any special equipment – only warm clothes, sturdy shoes and a sense of an adventure. During the trip you will walk for about 5 kilometres over varied terrain and have a picnic lunch by an open fire. This is a great place for taking nature pictures throughout the year.
