Celebrate the New Year's Eve in a unique way at a wilderness camp in rural Norway. Start the evening with looking for Northern Lights followed by 3-course dinner around an open fire in a traditional sami tent.
You will be picked up in Tromsø at 17:00 hrs and transferred by bus to the majestic Lyngen Alps and Camp Tamok. Here, in the middle of nowhere, you have the chance to see Northern Lights. At 21:00, a special 3-course dinner will be served. Enjoy the New Year's celebration in unique settings in the traditional lavvu (sami tent). Enjoy the “Chinese candles” at midnight and if you are lucky the Northern Lights will be dancing across the sky.
The next day breakfast will be served at 08:00 hrs in the lavvu followed by a dog sledding excursion. You will drive in pairs, one driver and one passenger on each sled, with the opportunity to switch places half way. The excursion finishes at Camp Tamok. Afterwards you will return to the city centre of Tromsø with arrival at approximately 16:00 hrs.
For your overnight you can choose to stay in a shared cabin, in an Aurora chalet or in an Aurora Dome. Please inform us at the time of booking of your choice.
Shared cabin: The cabin is heated with a wood stove and lighted with oil lamps. The cabin has four bedrooms and two lofts, sleeping up to 14 guests. Staying in the cabin can therefore be very social.
Aurora Chalet: The aurora chalet is a private accommodation, with place for two guests. The cabins are rather small without electricity and water, but heated. One important detail, one of the roof sides of the chalets have a window placed in the direction of the Northern Lights. The bed is placed right under the window, which is the perfect angle for watching the lights.
Aurora Dome: The Aurora Domes are a private accommodation, with place for two guests. The domes has everything you need as "clamping", except a toilet. The Aurora Domes have a transparent panorama window on the side as well as a transparent roof which gives a great opportunity to experience the Northern Lights.
