7H: King Crab Expedition

Come along for a fantastic day with the King Crabs. You will be shown how to catch, prepare and most importantly eat these giants from the Barents Sea.

Red King Crabs can weigh up to 10 kilos and have a leg span of 1,8 meters. An experienced fisherman will take you to the pier in front of the first King Crab restaurant in Norway and show you how to catch the King Crabs. He will also talk about the giants history in Norway. Afterwards, your guide will show you how the local way of preparing the King Crabs is and will take you back to the restaurant where you can try the fresh meal with a fantastic view over the fjord.

Please note that catching King Crabs differ between summer and winter:

Summer (Apr 21 to Nov 30): You will travel by RIB to the King Crab cages in the Barents Sea. Fishermen on board will pull out the cages from the water with your helping hands.

Winter (Dec 1 to Apr 20): You will be taken on an exciting snowmobile-pulled slight ride on the frozen sea. Fisherman will cut a hole through the ice and the Royal Crab cages will be hauled up. Maybe you will be asked to help them!
