3D: Trondheim City Walk

Join a guided tour of Trondheim, a medieval city that has become an important center for academic and technical research.

Norway's first capital, Trondheim, was founded in 997 by Viking king Olav Tryggvason. He introduced Christianity in Norway and gave Trondheim its original name, Nidaros. Your guided stroll starts at the harbor from where you will proceed to Stiftsgården, the royal residence in Trondheim, and on to the market square to see the statue of Olav Tryggvason. Then you walk to Nidaros Cathedral, Norway’s national shrine and a Gothic masterpiece.
Cross the Nid River over the red-painted Old Town Bridge and visit the Bakklandet district, which retains its charming 19th-century wooden architecture. Here you will find the world's only bicycle lift that drives up the steep mountain Brubakken.
