Arrival in Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland, according to your own itinerary. Please note that airport transfer is not included, but can be booked separately, please see add-ons for more details. This world’s northernmost capital is known for being modern, safe, fun, charming and peaceful. During summer time when the midnight sun is shining the city comes even more to life. One of the hidden facts about Iceland is its tasteful cuisine so make sure to go to one of the excellent restaurants in Reykjavik and try the fresh fish or the tender lamb meat. Breakfast at the hotel. Today you will go on a 3-hour long tour of Reykjavik. The city tour is a comprehensive introduction to Reykjavik's past and present. During the tour you will experience Reykjavik's main attractions on foot and by bus. First you will drive to the presidential residence at Bessastaðir and then continue to the several stops in Reykjavik. You will for example enjoy spectacular views from the platforms at Perlan a landmark building with hot water storage tanks, the Hallgrímskirkja church, the town hall and the Icelandic parliament, Alþingi. Also you will see the sports and recreation area in Laugardalur, with its geothermally heated outdoor swimming pool. After the city sightseeing tour you will have time at leisure for shopping and sightseeing on your own in Reykjavík city centre. Enjoy one of the many cafes in the center or visit some of the museums or exhibitions like The National Museum of Iceland, Reykjavik Art Museum or the Settlement Exhibition.
In the late afternoon it is time for a relaxing bath in the Blue Lagoon. A non-guided transfer to the Blue Lagoon is provided, as well as the standard entrance ticket. The Blue lagoon is a unique wonder of nature with pleasantly warm mineral-rich geothermal water set in the middle of a black lava field. The high levels of silica and minerals give the lagoon its rich blue color. You can choose between two departure times from the lagoon later that evening. Accommodation in Reykjavik.
Breakfast at the hotel. Today you will go on an 8-hour guided coach tour including some of Iceland’s highlights. The Golden Circle tour covers about 300 km, looping from Reykjavik into central Iceland and back. The Golden Circle includes the 'Big Three' - Gullfoss waterfall, Geysir hot springs and Þingvellir National Park. The tour starts with a drive inland to Þingvellir National Park where you will experience one of the most outstanding landscapes in the country. The area is surrounded by mountains and encompasses a vast lava plain of green moss and wild flowers. Þingvellir is also where the world’s oldest parliament was founded in the year 930. In 2004 the site of Þingvellir was inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List. From the national park the journey continues to Gullfoss, the 'Golden Waterfall', which is the most famous of the country's many waterfalls. Here the river Hvita drops 96 feet (30 meters) in two falls, creating an awesome spectacle. After lunch the tour continues to Geysir geothermal area, with many bubbling hot springs and spouting geysers. From there you will return to Reykjavik. Accommodation in Reykjavik.
