Authentic Scandinavia is a dedicated online tour operator, creating and selling independent package tours and escorted coach tours throughout Scandinavia.
Authentic Scandinavia was established in 2007 by the owner of one of the oldest and most influential Scandinavian tour operators. Having been in the business since 1964 we have the product knowledge, contacts and financial strength to secure our travellers with the highest level of service, as well as competitive prices.
With Authentic Scandinavia we aim to be the most influential and professional Internet provider of package tours to Scandinavia. Our dedicated Scandinavian staff has several years of experience in working with inbound tourism to Scandinavia, and our office is located in Oslo, placing us on location in Scandinavia.
The name of our company, Authentic Scandinavia, was chosen to reflect our products and services; we want travellers to experience the real Scandinavia; to return from their vacation with memories that will last a lifetime!
Independent and escorted package tours
Our role as a Scandinavian tour operator is to put together the best of what our destination has to offer, and thus create package tours with the flexibility and variations to match the requirements of travellers from across the world. Either with the flexibility offered by our independent tours or by the security of our escorted tours.
Our most popular tours include the spectacular Norwegian Fjords, the Scandinavian Capitals and cruises with Hurtigruten along the Norwegian coastline.
In addition we offer a number of package tours to Sweden, including the Göta Canal and Swedish Manor Houses.
Due to an increasing interest in active holidays we have also created package tour including hiking, biking, glacier walks, rafting and much more.
We have divided our tours into different categories based on ways of travel. Please note that all independent tours are non-escorted (airport- and hotel transfer is not included):
Independent Rail Tours
Our Independent Rail Tours are a selection of eco-friendly package tours, where travel is by public transport, including train, boat and/or bus. Several tours also include overnight cruises, scenic railways and fjord cruises. On the independent rail tours you have the perfect opportunity to sit back and enjoy the spectacular scenery without having to worry about driving directions.
All transport described in the tour details are included; the travel documents will specify departure and arrival times, as well as practical information on how to find your hotels and transport.
Self Drive Tours
When driving your own car you can experience Scandinavia in your own pace. You have the possibility to visit places which could otherwise be difficult to reach - places such as small villages, breathtaking viewpoints and scenic roads. Our selection of self drive tours includes it all, making the journey itself part of the attraction.
When driving in Norway there are several domestic ferry crossings along the route, both along the coast and in the fjord region. We have included both necessary- and scenic ferry crossings in our self drive tours. Ferry schedules, as well as road descriptions, will be provided in the travel documents.
Rental car is not included in our self drive tours since many travellers prefer to bring their own car. Should you require a rental car you may book this directly with i.e. AVIS (please see the AVIS icon in the left hand menu).
Please note that driving in Scandinavia, and especially in Norway, may differ from your previous driving experiences. Especially in the fjord region and in the mountains the roads tend to be narrow and winding.
Independent Short Breaks
Our selection of short breaks offers the best of what the destination has to offer for the traveller with limited time. Why not fly into the Hanseatic city of Bergen and see the fjords in only four days? Or maybe a Stockholm city break is more to your liking? Another highlight is an overnight at Scandinavia’s southernmost ice hotel.

The escorted coach tours are especially designed for those who seek a standard of accommodation and services above the norm. Getting to Scandinavia
Travellers booking through Authentic Scandinavia come from all over the world. To ensure that our tours are suited for everyone, regardless of where they are arriving from, we have therefore not included any transport to Scandinavia, only the ground services within Scandinavia and Finland.

Start locations
Most of our tours can commence in more than one city. This is due to the fact that different points of entry to Scandinavia may be convenient for travellers from different parts of the world. We offer detailed day-by-day tour description and travel documents for each start location available for our tours.
Hotel Categories
Majority of our tours are available with a choice of two different hotel categories:
Hotel Category 1 = Upgraded Hotels (4*)
Hotel Category 2 = Tourist Class Hotels (3-4* hotels)
Please be aware that Scandinavia does not have an official star rating of hotels; ratings indicated are for comparison only. The hotel standard in Scandinavia is generally high.
With a choice of two hotel categories you have the freedom to decide for yourself if you would like to pay extra for a higher standard of accommodation or not. However, in some locations different hotel categories are not possible. In these cases we have included the same hotel in both categories.
Additional Services
Our tour packages can be modified to include extra hotel nights and additional travel services, i.e. sightseeing, excursions and activities.
