Coal Miners’ Cabins is the place for those who wish to gain a real insight into the mining history on Svalbard. The hotel is located in Nybyen, about 2 kilometres from the town centre. The hotel rooms are simple, but comfortable. The hotel offers shared bathroom facilities.
When Longyearbyen was rebuilt after World War II, the miners moved into these new two-story barracks. Today, these barracks are home to the Coal Miners’ Cabins.
The standard rooms are simple, but with practical furnishings and views towards the wild Arctic landscape. There are shared bathroom facilities: eight bathrooms located in the corridors. A stay at Coal Miners’ Cabins includes a delicious breakfast buffet. Here you can get a great start on an exciting day in the Polar wilderness. In the evening, you can let your experiences sink in while you enjoy a beer in the bar and watch the northern lights flitter across the heavens or cuddle up in an armchair with a good book, whilst you plan the following day’s adventures.
