Hotel Ullensvang is beautifully located in the village of Lofthus on the shores of the Hardangerfjord, surrounded by thousands of fruit trees. It has been family-owned and run since their humble start in 1846. It offers many activities and a spectacular outdoor swimming pool.
The Hardanger area has for years inspired Norwegian authors, painters and composers. Perhaps the most famous guest through all these years is the composer Edvard Grieg. He came for the first time in 1878, and spent many summers, and one winter, in Lofthus. In Lofthus, he found the inspiration for music like “Springtime”, “The Holberg Suite” and “Peer Gynt Suite”. His composer’s cabin is still here, displayed in the hotel garden.
Today, the hotel has 168 rooms, all with unique views, two restaurants, a bar and large conference facilities. There is also an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, saunas, whirlpool, table tennis, tennis, squash courts, bowling, pool table and fitness room.
Outdoors the hotel offers a large sun terrace with deck chairs, row boats, bicycles, badminton and swimming in the fjord. For an extra fee, it is possible to rent sailboats as well as canoes.
