FAQ - Frequently asked questions

Does this new cancellation policy apply to all bookings?

The flexibility policy is valid for all new bookings submitted between April 2020 and March 2022.

Can I cancel at any time?

We offer free cancellation up until 20 days before travel on most of our tours. However, some tours include services from suppliers with stricter cancellation deadlines. This especially applies to some winter tours and tours including Hurtigruten and the Göta Canal. For a full overview please see our flexible terms and conditions.

If you have any questions regarding the cancellation policy applying to a specific tour, please contact one of our travel experts to get an overview of your options.

Will I get a refund if I cancel?

Most of our tours are fully refundable if you cancel your tour before the cancellation deadline; you will then receive a full refund of all costs including the deposit. The refund will be made within 14 days of us receiving your cancellation.

However, some of our tours include services from suppliers that require a non-refundable deposit. For a full overview of suppliers requiring a non-refundable deposit please see our cancellation policy or contact one of our travel experts.

Can I postpone or change my booking at any date?

If changing the travel date or destination before the cancellation deadline, Authentic Scandinavia will not charge any amendment fees. Please note that the new booking may be subject to seasonal tour prices as advertised on our website and we will adjust the tour price accordingly.

Many suppliers are flexible with change of travel date after the cancellation deadline, and we will do our utmost to keep the costs down (no amendment fee will be charged).

What are the current travel restrictions?

Please see the updated overview of travel restrictions to our destinations.

All travel restrictions are based on country of residence. If your nationality differ from your country of residence you must bring with you documentation of residence.

What happens if my booking is affected by travel restrictions?

If your booking is affected by travel restrictions during your trip in any of our destinations you will be contact by one of our travel consultants to discuss alternative arrangements. If there is no suitable alternative you will first be asked to contact your insurance company regarding a refund. If they will not provide a refund (written evidence will be required), we will proceed to make a refund for all recoverable costs including the deposit.

If you are restricted from travelling from your country of residence we ask you kindly to inform us immediately. You must then contact your insurance company regarding a refund. If they will not provide a refund (written evidence will be required), we will proceed to make a refund for all recoverable costs including the deposit.

We strongly recommend a travel insurance policy that provides extensive Covid-19 cover for medical, cancellation and curtailment.

Which costs are not recoverable?

All costs are recoverable when cancelled within the flexible cancellation deadlines. The conditions that apply when you are prevented from travelling due to Covid-19 differ a lot from supplier to supplier. Your advantage is that we have strong and longstanding relationships with our suppliers.

If you have any questions regarding the Covid-19 policy applying to a specific tour, please contact one of our travel experts.
