Breakfast at the hotel. Today you will start the day with a 4-hour guided sightseeing tour of Stockholm. Sights of interest include the Royal Palace, the Parliament Buildings, the island of Djurgården and the Old Town (Gamla Stan), with its narrow cobbled streets and numerous antique shops. Highlight of the tour is a visit to City Hall with its famous Blue and Golden Rooms, where the Nobel Prize Banquet is held each year. The afternoon is at your own leisure in Stockholm. Breakfast at the hotel. This morning is at your own leisure to explore the beautiful city of Stockholm, often called the Venice of the North due to its many canals and waterways. We recommend the 2-hour boat tour “Under the Bridges of Stockholm”. Afternoon coach transfer for embarkation on a luxurious cruise ferry from Silja Line. Enjoy your buffet breakfast, as you sail into Helsinki. You retain your cabin on the ship. When arriving in Helsinki a local guide is waiting to take you on a 3-hour sightseeing tour of the Finnish capital. Famous sights include the Senate Square, Uspenskij Cathedral, Parliament House, Finlandia Hall, New Opera House, Sibelius Park & Monument, Underground Temple, etc. The afternoon is at your own leisure in Helsinki before departing on your return cruise to Stockholm at 17.00 hrs. After a delicious buffet breakfast on board, you will return back to Stockholm at 09.30 hrs. The tour continues by coach through the pleasant countryside of Southern Sweden to Gränna, beautifully situated on Lake Vättern. Stop for lunch. After lunch continue through the provinces of Småland and Skåne to the city of Malmö. Cross the Øresund Bridge to arrive in wonderful Copenhagen in the early evening. In the afternoon you will be transfered by coach to DFDS Seaways' terminal for your overnight cruise to Oslo, departing at 17.00 hrs. Breakfast at the hotel. Visit the famous Viking Ship Museum before departing Oslo. You will drive via Hønefoss along the charming Halling Valley to the mountain village of Geilo. Buffet lunch at Bardøla Mountain Hotel. After lunch the journey continues across the wild Hardanger Mountain Plateau to Fossli, where you will make a stop to view the thundering Vøringsfoss Waterfall with a vertical drop of 180 metres, the highest in Norway. Descend the amazing Måbødal Canyon to the idyllic Hardangerfjord and cross the fjord over Norway's longest suspension bridge. Dinner and accommodation at Brakanes Hotel, ideally located on the banks of the fjord.
After breakfast at the hotel, you leave Ulvik and follow a scenic drive along the beautiful Hardangerfjord, famous for its many fruit orchards. You pass by the towns of Øystese and Norheimsund before arriving in Bergen around midday. Lunch in a local restaurant. In the afternoon you will experience Bergen on a 2-hour sightseeing tour, including a visit to the popular Fish and Flower Market, the famous Bryggen Harbour with its gabled pack houses, and the old Hanseatic Quarter. A ride with Fløibanen cable car up to Mount Fløyen will show you the best views of the city and the surrounding mountains and fjords. Dinner on your own. After breakfast departure from Bergen and drive via Dale to the town of Voss. Continue on the famous Bergen railway from Voss to Myrdal. Board your train for an exhilarating ride on the amazing Flåm Railway, a masterpiece of engineering descending 2.838 feet in less than one hour. The descent from Myrdal to fjord village of Flåm offers opportunities for photo shots of some exciting waterfalls and mountain scenery.
After a short rest in Flåm, the tour continues with a 2-hour cruise along the narrow Aurlands and Nærøy Fjords, both branches of the Sognefjord, the longest and deepest fjord in the world. From the sun deck or the comfortable lounge, you can enjoy the spectacular scenery of cascading waterfalls, sheer mountain cliffs, snow-clad peaks, and a variety of wildlife. After disembarking in Gudvangen at the head of the Nærøyfjord, your coach will be waiting for you to take you up through the amazing Stalheim Canyonand the Nærøy Valley. Continue across the Vika Mountains to Vangsnes for the short ferry crossing to the beautiful resort of Balestrand. The day starts with a traditional Norwegian buffet breakfast in the hotel’s elegant dining room. You may want to spend the morning relaxing on the hotel terrace, breathing in the fresh mountain air and enjoying the spectacular views. We can also recommend a visit to the local aquarium and art gallery, or you may prefer to rent a bike or rowing boat from the hotel, or even go on foot up to the nearest mountains. After breakfast departure from your hotel by coach, first on a short ferry crossing from Dragsvik to Hella, then along the scenic route on the northern side of the Sognefjord to Sogndal. The tour continues to Fjærland, passing under the Jostedal Glacier, the largest in Europe, to the village of Skei at the northern end of beautiful Lake Jølster. Descend to the beautiful Nordfjord, making a detour at Olden to visit the world-famous Briksdal Glacier. The journey up to the glacier will be made in open cars to give you the best views. Afterward a typical Norwegian lunch will be served in sight of the glacier. During the afternoon the tour continues via Loen and Stryn to the picturesque village of Hellesylt. From here you go on board the ferry for a one hour cruise along the spectacular Geirangerfjord, possibly the most impressive of all the Norwegian fjords. During the cruise you will pass close by some magnificent waterfalls, such as the Bridal Veil and the Seven Sisters. From the top of the famous Serpentine Road, you have the possibility to digest the amazing view of the fjord, before crossing the rugged Grotli Mountains to Lom, well known for its stave church. The tour continues via Lake Vågå, before descending the magnificent Gudbrandsdalen Valley to the Olympic town of Lillehammer. Stop for lunch in Lillehammer.
