Visit Oslo and Bergen and stay two nights in the fjord village of Balestrand, located by the Sognefjord. Travel on spectacular railways, including the Flåm Railway, and enjoy a fjord cruise on the Sognefjord. Possibility to join an optional fjord & glacier excursion.

The selected tour can commence in Bergen, Oslo.

Day 01: Arrival in Bergen

Arrival in Bergen, Norway's second largest city, according to your own itinerary. Bergen is often referred to as the Gateway to the Fjords due to its close proximity to the famous Norwegian fjords. Accommodation in Bergen.

Day 02: Get to know Bergen

Breakfast at the hotel. This day is at your own leisure to explore Bergen. Even though Bergen is Norway's second larges city, it has the charm of a small town. One of the most recognisable sights in Bergen is the Hanseatic Bryggen Wharf with its wooden buildings and quaint shops. Other sights of interest include Edvard Grieg's home Troldhaugen, the Fish and Flower market, Bergen Aquarium and Gamle Bergen (Old Bergen Open Air Museum). We also recommend a trip with Fløibanen funicular, which will bring you from the city centre and up to Mount Fløyen where you will have panorama view of the city and its surrounding fjords and mountains. Accommodation in Bergen.

Day 03: Fjord Cruise to Balestrand

Breakfast at the hotel before heading north along the western coastline of Norway. After a few hours the cruise will continue along the Sognefjord, the world's longest and deepest fjord, to the fjord village of Balestrand. Arrival around noon. Dinner included for Hotel Category 1 bookings. Accommodation in Balestrand.

Day 04: Balestrand / Optional Fjord & Glacier Excursion

Breakfast at the hotel. Today you have the possibility to relax in Balestrand, or to go on an optional excursion to Fjærland and the Glacier Museum. Travel on the Fjærlandsfjord and experience one of the most beautiful fjord arms in Norway. Along the fjord, the old hamlets and farms are reminders of the struggle for existence in past times. Local busses will transport you to the Glacier Museum, where you will learn more about the glaciers and how the fjords were formed. From there you will continue to two different extensions of the Jostedal Glacier; Supphellebreen and Bøyabreen glaciers (not possible to walk on the glaciers). If choosing the full day excursion you will have time at leisure to explore Fjærland, the Norwegian Book Town. Return by ferry to Balestrand (please see add-ons for excursion details and prices). Dinner included for Hotel Category 1 bookings. Accommodation in Balestrand.

Day 05: Sognefjord Cruise - Flåm- & Bergen Railway to Oslo

Breakfast at the hotel. Morning cruise departure to Flåm, Norway's only fjord village with train connection. Time at leisure before boarding the Flåm Railway, which passes through wild and beautiful mountain scenery with waterfalls and steep mountain sides from the Sognefjord and reaching up to a height of 900 metres. From Myrdal the journey continue by train on the Bergen Line to Oslo, the capital of Norway (arrival at 22:30 hrs). Accommodation in Oslo.

Day 06: Get to know Oslo

Breakfast at the hotel. Day at leisure to explore Oslo. The city offers many sightseeing possibilities, both by boat on the Oslo fjord and by bus (please see add-ons for details and additional costs). Oslo is a rather small capital and can also be explored on foot and by public transport. Why not take one of the boats departing from the city centre of Oslo to Bygdøy peninsula where several of Oslo's museums are located? Here you can visit the Fram-, Kon-tiki and Viking Museum. A visit at Vigeland Sculpture Park and Oslo's new opera house should also be included in any visit to Oslo. Accommodation in Oslo.

Day 07: Departure from Oslo

Breakfast at the hotel. Departure from Oslo according to your own itinerary. As an alternative we can offer a return train to Bergen.
