Day 01: Tromsø – the city of the Northern Lights

Arrival in Tromsø according to your own itinerary. The arctic city of Tromsø is the world’s most northern university town and the largest city in the Nordic countries north of the Arctic Circle. The city lies between the sharp craggy peaks of the Lyngen Alps, and combines wild scenery with urban life. Due to the city’s location right in the middle of the planet’s Northern Light’s belt, Tromsø offers the world’s best chances of spotting the Northern Lights. During your stay in Tromsø you can choose from a wide range of winter activities, including dog-sledding, Northern Lights observations and snowmobile safaris. Accommodation in Tromsø.

Day 02: Tromsø – evening cruise departure with Hurtigruten

Breakfast at the hotel. This day is at your own leisure to explore Tromsø. Sights of interest include the Polar Museum, Northern Light Planetarium and Tromsø Museum. Today you will also have the possibility to join one of the optional activities, before embarking on your winter cruise with Hurtigruten at 6 pm. Dinner and accommodation onboard.

Day 03: Cruise to North Cape

This morning you will spend at sea before arriving in Honningsvåg around noon. From there you will go on an excursion to the northernmost point of Norway – the North Cape with its plateau 307 metres above the Arctic Ocean. From here you can admire the panoramic view. Entrance to the North Cape Hall with viewing platform, souvenir shops, cinema, cafeteria and restaurant, is included in the excursion. Accommodation in Honningsvåg.

Day 04: Honningsvåg – Alta

Breakfast at the hotel. This morning is at your own leisure in Honningsvåg before your journey continues by local bus to Alta at 3 pm (4-hour bus ride). From Honningsvåg you will drive through the underwater tunnel to the mainland, along the Porsangen fjord and across the pristine Sennalandet plains of Finnmark country, Norway’s northernmost county. Day 05: Alta Ice Hotel

Breakfast at the hotel, before you at 10 am will join a breathtaking 3-hour Snowmobile Safari trough the beautiful landscape of Finnmark. You will follow the old trade route towards Karasjok which offer a great variety of nature – from forest and valley to unending, snow-covered plains. You will also get a preview of the ice hotel – your accommodation for the night. A light lunch of traditional food from Finnmark will be served in the restaurant adjoining the Ice Hotel before you will return to Alta. In the afternoon a bus will pick you up at the hotel for transfer to the Sorrisniva Ice Hotel, where you will spend the night under comfortable reindeer-hides and in warm sleeping bags (see hotel description for further details). A 2-course dinner will be served in the beautiful wooden restaurant shaped like a Sami Lavvo. Accommodation at Sorrisniva Ice Hotel.

Day 06: Departure from Alta

The sauna is heated every morning at 7am; warm up before breakfast and your 10 am transfer. The transfer corresponds with the flight to Oslo (flight not included in the price).
