DFDS Seaways – Outside

This overnight ferry service connects Oslo and Copenhagen, capitals of Norway and Denmark, on a daily basis. Both Oslo and Copenhagen offer a wealth of history, a large variety of attractions, shopping possibilities and a rich cultural life.

Distances:
The ships depart from both Oslo and Copenhagen in the early evening at 17:00 hrs and arrive the next morning at 09:30hrs.

Cabins:
The outside cabins have separate beds, sea view and provide all you need for a great journey. All cabins include bedding and towels and are equipped with private shower/WC.

Facilities:
DFDS operates the stretch between Oslo and Copenhagen with two ships, the M/S Crown Seaways and the M/S Pearl Seaways. The facilities provided by the ships are uniform, but the choice of colours, materials and design means that each ship retains its own character.

Both have a great quantity of facilities – including, ala carte and buffet restaurants, shops and bars. The fully licensed restaurants, cafés and bars offer a wide selection of food and beverages and the shops sell a broad range of different products.

Both ships also have a cinema, showing a range of movies for all ages.

Good to know:

  • Disabled guests: All ships have lifts and cabins for disabled guests. People with severe disabilities, or who are unable to take care of themselves, must be accompanied by a carer. Further must the guest inform the ferry company about their special needs in full before the travel. They must arrive at the Port at least one (1) hour before sailing and report to the DFDS Seaways’ Office at the Terminal.
  • Check-in closes 30 minutes before departure. Passengers arriving after these specified times may be unable to board the ship.
  • Luggage Allowance: 50kg per adult, 25kg per child. Assistance is generally not available.
  • Credit cards/currency: VISA, American Express, MasterCard, Eurocard, Diners Club and JBC International, but the ships do not accept Delta or Switch cards without a Visa or Mastercard affiliation. The shops, bars and restaurants accept the local currencies, plus most currencies can be exchanged onboard.
  • Smoking is only allowed outside on deck.
  • Electricity: 220 V AC (60Hz) and a two pin Continental adaptor.
  • Telephone and fax: All ships have pay phones. There is generally good coverage for mobile telephones.
  • Valuables: The ferry company cannot be held responsible for lost or stolen property and does not accept responsibility for valuables and money kept in the cabin. Any small items can be deposited in the Pursers Safe – please ask at the Information Desk on board.

Hotel rooms in Scandinavia are generally furnished with twin beds, which can be moved together to form a double bed or placed separately (some hotels have double beds though). Unless otherwise specified all rooms have private bathroom facilities, which are often equipped with a shower instead of a bath. Please note that single rooms are generally smaller than doubles. Purpose-built triple or family rooms are likewise unusual in Scandinavian hotels. Whilst it is possible for 3 persons to share a room, this will normally be formed by a double room with an extra bed. As a result space may be restricted.

Unless otherwise clearly specified a standard room/cabin is included in the tour price.
