Sorrisniva Igloo Hotel is located in idyllic surroundings on the banks of the Alta River. It was built for the first time in 1999; since then, it is built up again each year. The Igloo Hotel measures approx. 2000 square metres and the entire exterior and interior is made of snow and ice; the rooms, the beds, even the glasses in the ice bar. Apart from its 25 bedrooms, the Igloo Hotel houses a suite, an ice-bar and several lounges. The hotel is decorated with ice sculptures which are exquisite works of art. Each year, the hotel features a different theme from the Arctic region.
The temperature inside the hotel is constant between -4 and -7 degrees. Thanks to reindeer hides on the beds and the thick sleeping bags that can stand -30 degrees, you will stay nice and warm during the night.
We recommend that you sleep in:
Next to the ice hotel, there is a service building which holds a restaurant, wardrobes/toilets, showers/sauna, 2 outdoor hot tubs, reception and a souvenir shop.
The warm service building also contains a luggage room where your bags are stored safely during your stay. The ice rooms contain only your beds, while other facilities like toilets, changing rooms, showers and sauna are in the warm service building to ensure your comfort.
Hotel rooms in Scandinavia are generally furnished with twin beds, which can be moved together to form a double bed or placed separately (some hotels have double beds though). Unless otherwise specified all rooms have private bathroom facilities, which are often equipped with a shower instead of a bath. Please note that single rooms are generally smaller than doubles. Purpose-built triple or family rooms are likewise unusual in Scandinavian hotels. Whilst it is possible for 3 persons to share a room, this will normally be formed by a double room with an extra bed. As a result space may be restricted.
Unless otherwise clearly specified a standard room/cabin is included in the tour price.
