Dog Sledding in Alta - morning tour

With this tour, you will get to know Alta’s most popular and important activity - dog sledding. On this exciting adventure you might even spot a moose or other wildlife along the way!

On this dog sledding adventure, the guides will take you on the trail of Finnmarksløpet - the world's northernmost dog sledding race, held annually.

You will be picked up from the tourist information in the city centre of Alta or from Sorrisniva, and transferred to Holmen Husky Lodge. Upon arrival you will receive warm clothes and meet the guides and your dog-team. Before going for a ride, you get instructions on how to handle the sled.

The dog sledding experience lasts around 1 hour and you will be driving in pairs, with one driver and one passenger (you can switch positions halfway). Please let us know if you want to be a passenger, and this can be arranged.

When you get back to the dog yard, you will be served a hot drink in the Lavvu (a traditional sami tent). The guide is happy to answer all your questions, to talk about racing dogs and life on the husky yard. At the end the day, you will have some extra time to thank the huskies for their hard work with cuddles and belly scratches.
