Northern Lights at Aurora Sky Station in Abisko

Welcome to one of the world’s best places to watch the aurora borealis! At the Aurora Sky Station, located in the spectacular Abisko National Park, there is no artificial light or sound that disturb.

The night visit starts with a beautiful chairlift ride up to the Aurora Sky Station. Your eyes will gradually get used to the completely dark skies and soon you will see more stars than ever before.

At the top, you can join a guided tour which is included in the excursion.

Available:

November 18 to March 17.

Departure:

Daily, the chairlift runs from 21:00 hrs.

Duration:

4 hours (open from 21:00 to 01:00 hrs).

Child policy:

50% discount (12-15 years). This activity is not suitable for children under the age of 12.

Included:

Warm overall, return ticket by chair-lift and guided tour.

Please note:

Clothing: We recommend that you bring warm winter clothes. Please be informed that the warm overalls are only available in adult sizes. Children under 15 years must be dressed warm.

Weather dependent: The Aurora Sky Station may be closed at short notice due to weather conditions (strong winds, extremely cold temperatures, blizzars etc.). In this case an alternative Aurora Lounge program will come into effect. The Aurora Lounge program replaces the visit of the Aurora Sky Station and none of the amount charged for the scheduled visit of the Aurora Sky Station will be refunded. 

Aurora Lounge program: The guide will explain more about aurora borealis in the show room connected to the Aurora Lounge. You will receive a guided tour in the Abisko National Park. During the evening you have the opportunity to join more guided hikes. There is a wood fire burning in a traditional Sami tent (teepee) close to the Aurora Lounge where warm drinks are offered free of charge.

Northern Lights: Northern Lights observations are never guaranteed, sometimes it can be repeated several times during one evening and sometimes it simply stays away. Northern Lights observations are weather dependent; it needs to be clear sky in order to spot the Northern Lights.
